Privacy Policy

Read by 4th places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This privacy policy was created in order to demonstrate Read by 4th’s commitment to the privacy of our website users. This policy explains what types of information is collected by the Read by 4th’s website, www.readby4th.org, and how this information is used.

What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected
Website visitors who sign up to receive Read by 4th communications voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name and email address). We may use this information for specific, limited purposes. You may “opt out,” by sending an email to readby4th@freelibrary.org or clicking on “Unsubscribe” in the footer of our monthly e-newsletters, if you do not wish to receive our messages.

IP addresses
Read by 4th uses your IP address to track website visitor traffic.

Cookies
What are cookies? A cookie is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie allows that website to recognize your browser. Cookies may store unique identifiers, user preferences and other information.

Why do we use them? Cookies help us improve our website by providing us with information about which parts of the site are most popular, enabling us to analyze technical and navigational information about the site and helping us to detect and prevent fraud. We may also use cookies and other data collection tools to help improve your experience with the site. For example, we use Google Analytics to help analyze how users use the site. The Google Analytics tool uses cookies to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information in an anonymous form. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the site (including IP address) is transmitted to Google. Google provides this information to us and we use it to evaluate visitors’ use of the site and to compile statistical reports on website activity for Read by 4th.

How do I control cookies? Web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to manage and delete cookies, visit www.allaboutcookies.org. Some web browsers provide settings that allow a user to reject cookies or to alert a user when a cookie is placed on the user’s computer, tablet or mobile device. Most mobile devices also offer settings to reject mobile device identifiers. Although users are not required to accept cookies or mobile device identifiers, blocking or rejecting them may prevent access to some features available through the site.

How Your Information May Be Used
We use your personal information to send email newsletters to you. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all communications from us. We may also use your information to track visitors of our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties.

Email Privacy
Read by 4th does not provide, sell, or rent email addresses to anyone outside Read by 4th or its managing partner, the Free Library of Philadelphia.
