Ultimate Learning Adventure

2020 was a year like no other. With the summer-slide being compounded by COVID learning loss, addressing the growing need for extra learning support was a top priority for families and partners across Philly.

Read by 4th partnered with the School District of Philadelphia, Drexel School of Education, and others to create and distribute six weeks of free, digital activities for children in grades PreK-2. The Ultimate Learning Adventure featured lessons carefully designed to help children practice reading, writing, math, and science. The content focused on core standards that students may have missed due to the disruption of the end of the school year.

In a city like Philadelphia, with the highest deep poverty rate in the country, it's critical that equity leads all we do. Knowing that many families don’t have stable internet access, we also shared 8,900 printed learning packets to reach children regardless of their connection to wifi. And thanks to the help of 15 caring volunteers, we were able to safely distribute them to 41 meal sites for families to access citywide.

While summer break may have ended, the Ultimate Learning Adventure’s digital literacy games are still available and free for families (and teachers!) to explore anytime.
